Cleaning
To properly clean your solid wood furniture use a soft cloth with warm water and mild dish soap. The water won’t harm the wood, just be careful not to saturate it. Wipe off the excess moisture with a paper towel as needed.
Waxing
Once the furniture is clean, use a quality soft wax polish or paste. Apply a thin coat or as directed and wait a few minutes before buffing. After one hour or so repeat the buffing process to remove any residual or excess wax. The result will be a rejuvenated long lasting finish.
Protecting
Ideally, keep your furniture out of direct sun light. It can cause excessive temperatures, with the potential for issues such as fading, excessive oxidization and accelerated drying of the wood. Also, avoid placing the furniture near heaters or heating vents. Dry heat can also lead to potential wood drying issues. The use of a humidifier to maintain a consistent level of relative humidity (between 40 to 50 percent) is the most ideal environment for solid wood furniture.
